Transcript:
So when you go to apply one of the damaged styles to type, then you might think they look a little bit naff, and they've been mis-sold PPI, and that's because they don't actually have any print textures in them, but they're made to be used in conjunction with the print textures on top.
So what you do is, find one that you like, go through here, click on them, and if you want to move the pattern, you can just double-click on where it says Pattern Overlay, and I'll see you in the next video.
It'll bring up this window, and you can just click on the artboard and move it around. So you can find some lovely bits of, uh, damage, and kind of place it, break off some of these corners and stuff.
And then, what we can do is with this group, is we just hit Control or Command G and pop that into a second group.
And it's going to call that print effect. And then, this top group we apply one of the print light styles.
So, If I rename this layer underneath and call this damage, then we basically apply damage to this group, and then on top of that, we pop that into the group with one of the wood or metal effects on there.
So now you can go back through these and you'll see that it's just taking chunks out of it, as if you had, uh, wood or metal type, and it's just been gone through the absolute ringer.
Um, some of these, like, wood grain, or woodworm, are obviously made for the wood textures, like this. But, you know, mix and match, don't just see that this is something to do wood, and you have to go with a wood printing.
You know, mix it up, have a bit of fun, um, but make sure that your damage effects are in a group within one of the, uh, wood or metal print effects, free to get the full effect.
I said, effect a lot there. Yeah.
